Orange grants free fixed, ADSL setup
Celebrating summer season, Orange, the sole integrated operator in the Kingdom, launched a-first-of-its-kind offer in Jordan effective from June 29 and for a limited time, granting free residential fixed and ADSL set-up fees worth JD30 and JD60. According to Wassila Zitoune VP/CEO of Orange Fixed: “This offer is part of Orange’s summer offers’ bundle that includes Internet, mobile and fixed services”. “Orange seeks to add more benefits to the lives of its customers during summer, and this can be achieved through providing top services and offers with the lowest tariffs that are linked with high quality,” she added.
Zain launches summer campaign
Zain, part of the Zain Group the leading mobile operator in the Middle East and Africa, announced the launch of its summer campaign, offering its customers hundreds of daily awards in addition to four major prizes to be awarded at the end of the campaign on August 27. Zain’s CEO Dr Ahmad Al Shatti said, "The awards this summer will be distinctive as there are four major prizes, which include three 2008-model luxury cars: Ford Edge, Ford Mundio, and Ford Fox, in addition to the wedding of a lifetime offered and hundreds of Samsung mobile phones offered by Ranan Trading Company.
Fortune Promoseven wins at Cannes
Fortune Promoseven made advertising history by becoming the first agency from the Middle East to win two Gold and two Silver Lions in the same year. At the 55th Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival held in France, the Agency walked away with a Gold and Silver in the Press category, a Silver in the print category and a Gold in the Outdoor category. Fortune Promoseven also had the highest number of campaigns short listed amongst agencies from the region, with over 30 pieces of work chosen by the Cannes judges.

AbuKhader Automotive - The new name for Chevrolet in Jordan
Car buyers in Jordan looking to purchase a Chevrolet car are set to benefit from the news that the brand is now being sold and serviced in the same facilities under the name of AbuKhader Automotive, currently General Motor’s dealer for Cadillac, Hummer and GMC.
The change stems from an agreement, effective immediately, that covers the General Motors (GM) businesses of AbuKhader Automotive, currently the Cadillac, Hummer and GMC dealer in Jordan, and Autotech, Chevrolet dealer in Jordan. As a result it is now even easier for customers to gain access to the wide and exciting range of GM vehicles and services offered by one dealer.
Terry Johnsson, president of General Motors – Middle East Operations, commented, “With AbuKhader, Jordanian customers will now benefit from the convenience, experience and resources that this larger set up can offer across the GM brands.”

Saraya … ‘Fastest Growing Company’
Saraya Holdings, the real estate development and asset-management company that invests in the travel and tourism industries, has been awarded the Arabian Property Middle East Awards 2008 for being the “Fastest Growing Company” in the region. Arabian Property Magazine, part of ITP Publishing Group, based its judgement on the organizational system, management and marketing of the real estate companies in the Arab region.

Ahli Bank supports YMWA exhibition

Jordan Commercial Bank (JCBank) has sponsored the Scientific Forum organized by Yarmouk University (YU) next month. The Forum is being held in collaboration with the Arab Administrative Development Organization- Egypt from July 8 – 10. Participating in the event are representatives from the private and the public sectors in Jordan, the region and around the globe.

MEI implements solar solution at AMS
The solar heating solution is now the primary energy source for heating the Arab Model School’s indoor swimming pool and fulfilling the schools domestic hot water needs all year round.
The turn key system designed and successfully installed by Millennium Energy Industries (MEI) will enable AMS to save the majority of its diesel fuel bill and to recover its initial investment back in approximately one year from savings on diesel fuel consumption.
“Solar energy is utilized in Europe in areas with less than half the solar energy we have in Jordan because it is proven feasible and economical; we might as well be utilizing that renewable energy source with all the sun radiation we are blessed with,” stated Hisham Mikhi, GM of MEI Heating Systems.
Director of AMS, Dr Fahmi Abu Arja, said, “We are happy to be the first school in Jordan to install Millennium’s solutions so our students can enjoy what are considered expensive luxuries these days because of energy prices. We are also excited, to be helping our environment and instilling such values in the new generation for the benefit of our country’s future.”
European Championship top prize: Nissan Qashqai 2008
Zain, part of the Zain Group, the leading mobile operator in the Middle East and Africa, announced on Thursday the name of the winner of the European Championship Challenge grand prize: A fully registered and duty paid Nissan Qashqai.
Zain CEO Dr Ahmad Al-Shatti handed the grand prize to Issa Sleiman Issa Karrain, a Zain 5 subscriber.
Zain subscribers were able to register in the Euro 2008 competition which lasted until June 29, through SMS. Subscribers were then able to participate by predicting the winning team for that day, through SMS, from the daily game schedule sent by Zain to all the subscribers’ phones using the given number.
All correct predictions entered the draw, which ran by Zain on a weekly basis. In addition to the Grand Prize, the Nissan Qashqai 2008, a total of 64 Samsung J700 mobiles were distributed to the winners.
